Seeming Oxymoron (Proverbs 13:23)

It seems as though that those who follow the law suffer want while those who do not want to follow the law, do so freely. This may be the case; not because the Lord is not there, but because there is a curse placed upon the earth.

"Much food is in the tilled land of the poor, but there are those who are destroyed because of injustice." Proverbs 13:23, Amplified

It already seems to me that this verse is not making much sense. First of all it speaks of the poor owning land. How can the poor own land and still be poor? The Lord looks out for his own. Remember, however, that the person in the world is still subject to the laws of this world. Because of injustice a person can be destroyed. If the Lord looks out for His own, then cleave to Him.
